Ages 3-6
Chalice Children: Early childhood is filled with curiosity and wonder. Centered around the symbol of our Flaming Chalice, young children engage in spiritual seeking, develop their openness to sharing, and experience the benefit of a supportive spiritual community.
Grs. 2-4 Human Sexuality mini-course
(Class full as of 3-15-26) Children who missed OWL last year along with the public are welcome to enroll in this 4 session course covering basic information about human sexuality. Learn more here.
Grades 1-7
In this Montessori-inspired program, elementary children will explore the day’s lesson in a format of their choice: through Art, Games, Contemplative Activities, and a rotation of STEM and Music/Drama. Sunday topics are based on our monthly Soul Matters themes which delve into life issues, teach healthy emotional skills, and support our progressive religious values.
Coming of Age (grs. 8+)
Coming of Age (COA) is a journey of discovery and discernment of beliefs, values, and religious identity. The class strives to lead youth to live out Horizon’s mission and promote love and justice in the world. The course concludes with the UU Heritage trip to the Boston area, the historic center of American Unitarian Universalism.
Sunday Youth Group
Ages 13+
The youth group will meet on selected Sunday mornings from 10:45-11:45 during the spring semester. Youth Group is youth-centered and teens have input on topics covered during their time together.
Lauren Daniell, Director of Religious Education (she/her)
Welcome! I have been serving Horizon since 2013 after a long career as a classroom teacher. I invite you to contact me to learn more about programming for children, youth and families at Horizon at DLRE@horizonuu.org.
I’ve been a Unitarian Universalist since 1995, and was active as a congregant and leader at other UU congregations, including serving on boards of trustees and as the religious education chair before coming to Horizon.
