Life-long Learners

As Unitarian Universalists, we pride ourselves on being life-long learners. In that spirit, our third ends statement is centered on Lifespan Religious Education.

Our congregation and our broader community are enriched and transformed by religious education programs as we:

  • Understand and teach Unitarian Universalist values, identity, and practices

  • Encompass the principles and histories of Unitarian Universalism, liberal religious traditions, world religions, and the history of Horizon Unitarian Universalist Church

  • Deepen the spiritual and ethical lives of adults, youth, and children by engaging them in open- minded dialogue

  • Foster religious inquiry, social analysis, and public conversation with the larger community

One of our core belief as Unitarian Universalists is that we never stop learning, that our beliefs change, that we get better at articulating exactly what it is that we believe. In today’s world, maybe more than ever, we are realizing what we have learned so far seems to have big gaps that were not covered in the textbooks we grew up learning from.

So to read, and think, and share become even more critical…

We seek elusive answers to the questions of this life.

We seek to put an end to all the waste of human strife.

We search for truth, equality, and blessed peace of mind.

And then, we come together here, to make sense of what we find.

And we believe in life, and in the strength of love, and we have found a joy being together.

And in our search for peace, maybe we’ll finally see:

even to question, truly is an answer.
