Artist Info

Darla Bostick is a Denton, TX resident. Her BFA from Texas Tech University initiated art involvement as an educator in AZ, IA, NM, KS, MO and TX. Her greatest challenge and satisfaction is in watercolors and photography. Paintings are inspired by her travel photographs using a camera as a sketchbook to capture colors, architecture, unique landscapes and people.

Darla's life as an artist has been a national and international journey as a painter, photographer, student, and instructor. To date, Darla has traveled to 83 countries! Her exhibit in our sanctuary includes examples of the subjects she has had the pleasure to see and paint. What you will see on our walls is truly a world view of subjects that inspired her art. Please enjoy the view of her journey as an artist.

Exhibitions:

Photos and paintings have been juried into national and international exhibits in TX, MS, OK, AZ, AR, KS, MN, CA, RI, NC, LA, AK, FL in museums and art galleries. She has had many solo exhibitions to her credit and regularly participates in juried exhibitions.

Her work has appeared in several publications, newspapers, web pages and television.

Featured in “The Dallas Morning News” travel section, “Life Images” magazine, “Art Educator”, "Best of America Watercolor Artists & Artisans, Vol. I", Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff Anniversary Catalog, covers of “Denton Connection” and “Denton Scramble” magazines. Art chosen in fundraising calendars for Visual Arts Society of Texas, Visual Arts of Lewisville and Irving Art Association. She publishes her own annual calendar.

 

Teaching:

Darla is an active painter, photographer, teacher, demonstrating at several TX art associations. Since 2008 she has presented art workshop/retreats at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, NM combining photography, watercolor, and mixed medias attracting artists coast to coast and internationally. She has led workshops in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Missouri and Kansas. Annually she has presented her Art Adventure Abroad (Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy) since 2008.

 

Membership:

She is an active member of local and national art associations, past President of Society of Watercolor Artists (2 terms). She has earned Signature Status in that organization--also Southwestern Watercolor Society, Texas Visual Arts Association, Southwestern Arts, Inc and has the highest level of Signature in the Texas Watercolor Society.

Exhibition Guidelines

Our space accommodates 15-20 large to medium works of art or more smaller works.

  • Two dimensional work only

  • Must be ready to hang, with wire, no sawtooth

  • Nothing more than 50 lbs

  • Any theme or subject matter will be considered

  • Any medium

Each exhibition is six or more weeks beginning on a Sunday. The work must be hung during the week prior and picked up promptly during the week following the show. Any work sold, generates a 20% commission to the church.
