Make a pledge, make a difference

The flame of Horizon burns for love, for community, for justice. This flame lights the way for our mission and is fueled by our members – your time, energy, compassion, and financial donations.

What financial gift can you give that will be meaningful to you, that will give you strength and clarity in the months ahead?  What gift would be exciting and nourishing to your own spirit and to our Horizon community?

Each year, we ask members to make an annual pledge to the congregation in support the work of our church. As a member of Horizon UU Church, you are a financial steward of the good work, support, and growth of Horizon.

100% member participation in the campaign

$450,000 to fund the programs of the church

These goals create a balanced budget and help us invest in resources to serve our members and expand our beloved community. Reaching this goal will enable us to build a strong financial foundation and build towards a hope-filled and exciting future.

FAQ

  • A pledge is your promise to donate money to the church within a 12 month time period. It tells the church how much financial support you plan to give toward the ministries of the church, and at what intervals, which is instrumental in the budgeting process.

  • A yearly pledge of support is critical. The board and finance committee base the annual budget on the pledge commitments made by members. Only by knowing what income to anticipate in the coming year can HUUC plan its programming and commit to funding long-term projects.

  • The pledge you make today is for the fiscal year starting March 1, 2025 and ending March 1, 2026. However we ask that you start paying your new monthly amount in March of this year.  This is so we can close gaps in the current year’s budget.

  • At our church, we understand that everyone's financial situation is different. We encourage each member to thoughtfully consider their relationship with the church and their capacity for giving. To assist you in deciding the most suitable contribution for your circumstances, we have created a Giving Guide to help you reflect on your ability to contribute generously and meaningfully.

  • Your pledge supports all of the work of this church, including our programs and the staff who support them. For more details, including a breakdown of the current year’s budget, click here.

  • Our pledge is our promise to each other of financial stewardship. The amount pledged is an important factor in determining the annual budget. Your pledge helps us plan. Now, putting money in the offertory plate is a special kind of worship and generosity; those funds help us, too, and are gratefully received.

  • We are moving from a year-round pledge process to a once-a-year annual campaign. We’re asking for everyone to turn in a new pledge, and reconsider the amount if they are able.

  • Lives aren’t static. You may change your pledge any time during the year by emailing stewardship@horizonuu.org If you find your life is taking an unexpected turn, a call to the minister might be a good step, too. Whether you’re adjusting your pledge up or down, know that we will be grateful for the information, which helps us budget and manage the budget. Every gift is valued.

Below is our Personal Giving Guide, created to help you thoughtfully consider your gift to Horizon.
