What is OWL? Our Whole Lives or OWL is a lifelong series of sexuality education classes which supports children and teens at times of great physical and emotional change. OWL is comprehensive, educating children and youth about matters of the heart, the body and the mind.

Our Whole Lives guides participants to make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. With a holistic approach, OWL provides medically accurate and developmentally appropriate information about a range of topics, including relationships, gender identity, sexual orientation, sexual health, and cultural influences on sexuality.

The OWL classes are open to the public. Children and teens taking OWL must be registered with the church Child and Youth Registration and an adult family member is required to attend an orientation before the course begins. Email Lauren Daniell, Director of Religious Education, if you have questions about OWL or wish to enroll a family member: dlre@horizonuu.org.

Seventh through ninth graders spend the year clarifying personal values as they explore the spiritual, emotional, physical, and social aspects of puberty and their sexuality. Download this brochure from a prior year which contains typical class details, including course content.

This class is usually offered every other year August-May and is open to the public. Due to the sensitive nature of this course, 7th, 8th and 9th graders who visit mid-year are invited to join our middle school or high school groups.

Grades 10-12

Scheduled 2025-26

Using a comprehensive approach, this 12 session program helps senior high youth gain the knowledge, life principles and skills they need to express their sexuality in life-enhancing ways. The teens will review and expand on information learned in earlier OWL levels (consent, sexual health and safety, healthy relationships, decisions around becoming a parent, and gender identity, among others.) Offered every 2 years.
