February/March Artist

Brenna Morgan-McGee is an emerging artist, working primarily in acrylic, resin, and oils. She minored in art at Stephen F. Austin State University where she focused on ceramics. After college, she continued to take art classes at the community college, eventually branching into oil painting. For many years her art was put on hold while she raised her family, but she never forgot her true passion. Over the years, she has participated in art festivals and group exhibits. Recently, she joined the board of the Visual Arts League of Allen (VALA). In 2019, she had her first solo exhibition, “Choosing Beauty,” at the Blue House Too gallery in Allen, TX. She often employs bold colors and favors florals and abstract subject matter.

Artist’s Statement: Every painting tells a story. The thoughts and feelings that I can't put into words are reflected on my canvases. My subject matter covers diverse, wide-ranging interests. The only thing that unites them is that, at one point in time, something in them spoke to me. I am drawn to bold colors, strong women, and showy nature. My desire is for the painting to reach out to the audience and share a personal moment. I am a firm believer that everybody should have one piece of unique artwork - even if it's not mine. It shouldn't be something that matches the couch; it should be something that speaks to your soul.

Horizon supports the visual arts in our community and enhances the spiritual experience in our sanctuary by exhibiting the work of local artists. Horizon receives 20% for each artwork sold. To purchase an artwork, please contact the artist or email horizonart@horizonuu.org. For more information about the program visit Art Gallery page.
