Transforming the lives of black women and girls.
The Afiya Center’s mission is to serve Black women and girls by transforming the lives, health, and overall well-being of Black women and girls by providing refuge, education, and resources. It is the only reproductive justice organization in North Texas founded and directed by Black women. It seeks to assist Black women in elevating and addressing their everyday experiences through the reproductive justice framework, believing that this platform serves not only as an avenue for raising awareness, but also for establishing true advocacy work rooted in self-actualization, powerful storytelling, and knowledgeable electoral engagement.
The Afiya Center provides advocacy training and education in the areas of reproductive justice, HIV, maternal health, the decriminalization of Black bodies, and civic engagement. Additionally, their health, wellness, and birth center offer fitness classes, doula services, and prenatal and postpartum care. Learn more at theafiyacenter.org.
