WHAT IS CASA?
Court Appointed Special Advocates - The mission of CASA of Denton County, Inc. is to advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse and neglect. CASA trained and supported community volunteers build a strong, consistent relationship with each child and their family, promote community resources, and make informed recommendations to the court.
Ordinary people just like you who pass background checks, complete 30-hour Advocacy Academy training and commit to a child for the life of the case.
ONE CASE AT A TIME - CPS workers have high caseloads, turnover is high. Attorneys and Judges also have high caseloads. CASA advocates volunteer one case at a time.
THE CASA DIFFERENCE - Studies find children with a CASA: Have better educational outcomes, have access to more services, spend less time in the foster care system, and are half as likely to return to state custody after case closure.
