2024 UUA General Assembly

Horizon has 5 delegates who will be attending this year’s general assembly (GA) virtually. That means that if you are interested you can join some of the delegates in the Horizon library at various times listed below during the GA to worship, learn, and witness the business of the UUA.

THURSday June 20

12:00-1:00pm Opening and General Session 1

The General Assembly commences with a lively and celebratory opening event that establishes the event's mood. Subsequently, the first General Session, overseen by Co-moderators Rev. Meg Riley and Charles Du Mond, focuses on conducting the Association's business. General Sessions are for conducting the business of the assembly such as: Electing new UUA board members, making changes to the UUA bylaws, and voting on social witness statements.

3:00-5:00pm General Session 2

6:00-7:00pm Synergy Bridging Worship

Prepare to be deeply moved and illuminated during our transformative multigenerational worship experience! Join us for a heartwarming celebration of cherished worship traditions, meaningful rites of passage, and captivating contemporary music.

Friday June 21

1:30-5:00 pm General Session 3

5:30-7:00 pm Service of the Living Tradition

Saturday June 22

6:00-7:00pm Ware Lecture

Learn more about this year’s lecturer Julia Watts Belser. She is a rabbi, scholar, spiritual teacher and a longtime activist for disability and gender justice. She is Professor of Jewish Studies in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at Georgetown University, as well as core faculty in Georgetown’s Disability Studies Program and a Senior Research Fellow at the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs. Her work brings ancient Jewish texts into dialogue with disability studies, feminist thought, queer theory, and environmental justice ethics.

SUNDay June 23

12:00-1:30 pm Closing Worship - please plan to stay after Horizon’s Sunday service and watch this special event with us in Horizon’s sanctuary
