Road To Liberation Launch

Faith In Texas is Launching a New Justice Campaign

Road to Liberation

Faith in Texas is launching a new campaign called the Road to Liberation. During the Road to Liberation Launch Event, they will share a faith-centered analysis of how policing and mass incarceration have been rooted in the age-old lie that some people are worth less than others, and how people from all faiths and races can work together to forge a new path towards true community safety. During breakout sessions they will explore how racism shows up in our lives and communities, and how we can take action to disrupt and dismantle it. And we will take action together to let our community and our leaders know that we will no longer submit to the chains of racist systems.

The Horizon Faith in Texas Team is excited about this new campaign which centers the needs of the community in Dallas County and directly confronts the systems that have continually placed the needs of Black people last. What happens in Dallas and Dallas County affects all of us in the metroplex. Dallas could set an example for other municipalities. Many people who work in your neighborhood may live in Dallas. Dallas has a big budget and can affect real change if challenged to do so. A large portion of Carrollton is in Dallas County.

Please consider joining in this event as we set off on the Road to Liberation together. Read more and sign-up for the virtual launch event HERE. The launch event has several parts from 2p-8p on August 30. If you can’t attend all, try to attend some. Consider the Breaking Our Chains reflections if the 30th isn’t an available date for you. You can drop off paper chains at the Horizon Drive-thru event on August 29 from Noon-4pm. Contact fit@horizonuu.org to find out about the variety of ways you can join in the effort.
