Liberation Starts With Listening.

We protested. We voted. We participated in a nationwide uprising in defense of Black lives. We saw an insurrection at the Capitol. During these moments, we wrestled with bold visions and demands for a Beloved Community where all of God’s people can be safe. We challenged what we’ve been told about the things that make us safe, like police, jails, and detention centers. Safety can be clearly seen when we first address the realities of harmful policing and incarceration systems that mostly impact the lives of Black and Brown people, especially those in impoverished communities. We believe true safety is not evident in the caging and controlling of people. Safety is the result of effectively providing – on a consistent basis – the opportunities and resources that we need to live our best lives. 

It's time for us to come together in a powerful way to end the practices of injustice seen in the mass incarceration system across Dallas County. It starts with deep listening and amplifying our collective voices to answer questions like: 

• What do our communities need to thrive?

• What dreams have been delayed because we don’t have the resources to pursue them?

• Do we feel like families are safe in our communities? Why or why not?

Join Faith in Texas as we discover how to have sacred conversations that will listen for and get answers to the above questions and more. Attendees will learn: 

• what listening sessions are and why they are vital to making systemic changes that have a real impact on our lives.

• how to hold/facilitate sacred conversations that create shared experiences through storytelling and make space for authentic connection, listening, and healing.

• effective strategies, tools, and tactics needed to develop a plan for conducting listening sessions in a digital environment.

• leave with a plan that will put our faith and moral values into action!
