The Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) is a nonprofit, nonsectarian organization advancing human rights together with an international community of grassroots partners and advocates.
The UUSC focuses its work on intersecting roots of injustice to defend rights at risk due to criminalization and systemic oppression of people based on their identity. The UUSC supports self-determination and defend the rights of people displaced due to climate, conflict or economic hardships; and responds to humanitarian crises as partners with people whose access to aid is most limited.
Striving to center the voices of people most affected by injustice, UUSC creates eye-to-eye relationships with frontline grassroots movements across the world that support marginalized communities in determining their steps for the future.
UUSC mission: UUSC advances human rights and social justice around the world, partnering with those who confront unjust power structures and mobilizing to challenge oppressive policies. The UUSC’s work is grounded in the belief that all people have inherent power and dignity.
UUSC Response to Texas Winter Crisis
UUSC has moved quickly in response to the crisis at-risk Texans are facing by sending emergency grants to support our existing partners in the region. You can bolster these efforts by making a donation today. An emergency grant to the Carrizo Comecrudo Tribe of Texas is providing water, food, and propane to members of the community who have been hard-hit by the storm. In addition, UUSC provided emergency funding to the disability and immigration advocacy organization Living Hope Wheelchair Association (LHWA) in Houston to assist individuals with disabilities and their families to purchase food and water, replace damaged wheelchair and car batteries, and repair homes affected by bursting pipes and flooding.
